One of Shakespeare’s beloved comedies, TWELFTH NIGHT employs mistaken identity and misguided love. Twins Viola and Sebastian survive a shipwreck, though each assumes the other has not survived. In order to protect herself, Viola disguises herself as “Cesario,” a male servant to the local Count Orsino. In love with Olivia, Orsino has Cesario woo Lady Olivia for him, but Olivia ends up falling in love with Cesario (not knowing Cesario is really Viola). Viola, while disguised as Cesario, finds herself falling in love with Orsino. Meanwhile, unbeknownst to Viola, her twin brother Sebastian has been rescued! Confusion revolves around the mistaken identities of Sebastian and Cesario (Viola), and various hijinks ensue involving Olivia’s house and court.
