The curtain first rose on Sangamon Auditorium in 1981. Now, after 40+ years of unforgettable performances, it’s time for a well-deserved intermission—but only for a brief 15-minute…oops…month pause before our 2nd Act!
The UIS Performing Arts Center is getting a well-earned refresh. New seats, updated surfaces, and improved equipment will create an even better experience for every audience member. When the curtain rises again in Fall 2026, patrons will return to the performances they love in a revitalized venue.

Milestone 1: $250,000
The vision comes to life! This first milestone begins installation of new seating to enhance comfort and accessibility.
Milestone 2: $750,000
The refresh is underway! This milestone covers important improvements, including the completion of seating, upgrades to surfaces and equipment.
Milestone 3: $1,250,000
Fresh finishes, new carpeting, updated paint, and final enhancements ensure the space will be ready for an unforgettable reopening.

Tier 2: Seat Sponsor ($1,000–$5,000)

- For a gift of $1,000 per seat, you may “name” a seat to honor your support or recognize a loved one. Donors will be listed on a special display in the lobby, leaving a lasting legacy while supporting the auditorium’s transformation.
